Recently Re-Discovered Gold Coast Treasures To Be Displayed At London Jewelers
Spectacular Gowns and Holiday Glitter from Nassau County’s Sands Point Preserve Includes the First “Designer Label” Clothing
Nassau County, December 4th – A rare glimpse into Long Island’s glamorous past will be available to shoppers at the London Jewelers store in Manhasset on Thursday, December 4th from 5 – 7:30 PM. Nassau County and the Friends of the Sands Point Preserve will be displaying selected gowns and jewelry as part of the Champions For Charity event at the Americana Manhasset.
Hand crafted beading and lace tatting that so beautifully captures the glitz and elegance of the Gatsby-era will be in evidence on gowns manufactured by legendary period designers, Thurn and Charles Frederick Worth. Worth was the first designer to put his label into clothing he designed, establishing a trend that endures today.
These “ooh” and “ah” inspiring items will be on exhibit in the beautifully appointed gift gallery on the store’s second floor. The artifacts are only a small part of a far larger collection of clothing, furniture, toys and automobiles that are currently in the process of being catalogued from the Gould and Guggenheim estates that are part of Nassau County’s Sands Point Preserve. The Friends of the Sands Point Preserve and Nassau County are showing these exquisite items as a peek into what they envision will be part of an ongoing exhibit of Gold Coast treasures at the Preserve in the near future.
Twenty five percent of the cost of purchases made as a result of pre-registering for the Champions of Charity event will be donated to The Friends of the Sands Point Preserve. You can register by calling (800) 818-6767 or online at: www.championsforcharity.org.
