Oyster Bay, NY, October 16, 2009:   Children young and old can experience high sea adventure in Nassau County, Long Island, at the 26th Annual Oyster Festival on the waterfront at Theodore Roosevelt Park in Oyster Bay, NY on October 17th and 18th.    The Oyster Festival, a renowned celebration of seafood and tall ships, is the largest waterfront festival on the East Coast, with amazing food, games, entertainment, music and shopping for the entire family.   The festival is open from 11 am until 6 pm all weekend long.

The Oyster Festival has something to delight every buccaneer in your crew.   Older pirates can savor the incredible food court, famous for the freshest oysters, shrimp and muscles anywhere.   Young mateys can enjoy the “Kings of the Coast” pirate shows and treasure hunts, as well as a newly expanded children’s entertainment area, featuring rides, games and an assortment of fun animals to pet.     The entire crew will marvel at the Ultimate Air Dog competition—as dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds amaze crowds as they compete against each other taking leaps off a 40-foot dock.   Other highlights include tours of tall ships, The Best of the Food Court competition, and two stages featuring folk music and animal demonstrations.  A  complete festival schedule is available at TheOysterFestival.org.

The fall season brings many opportunities for families to enjoy all that Nassau County has to offer, from fall festivals to pumpkin picking and haunted house tours.
