Nassau County is home to some of the best beaches anywhere. Bordering the Atlantic Ocean, Jones Beach is the most visited beach anywhere. Long Beach is possibly the most popular surfing destination this side of Malibu. And Nickerson Beach Park with its Fun Zone skate park, campground, sporting facilities and Nathan's at Nickerson restaurant is ideal for families. If fishing is more your thing, the beaches on the North Shore are justly famous for striped bass and bluefish.

Museum Row, located in Garden City, is a one-stop destination for some of Long Island's best museums. Here, you’ll find the Long Island Children's Museum, the Nassau County Firefighter's Museum, and the Cradle of Aviation Museum. All within the walking distance of each other. Not far away, and housed inside an historic Gold Coast Mansion, The Nassau County Museum of Art features 600 works of art representing 19th and 20th century European and American artists.

There are numerous places in Nassau County to enjoy the great outdoors. One of the most popular is the Sands Point Preserve. It has wooded hiking grounds as well as trails that lead down to its beach on the Long Island Sound - perfect for a leisurely stroll, or for cross-country skiing on a winter day. Also not to be missed are the nature trails of the Mill Pond Preserve in Wantagh, the freshwater marsh of the Massapequa Preserve, and the 550-acres of fields, woodlands and ponds surrounding the Chelsea Mansion in the Muttontown Preserve. If nature is your thing, then Nassau County is your natural habitat.

Step back in time and experience a recreated mid-19th-century American village. The 209-acre Old Bethpage Village Restoration includes 51 pre-Civil War historic buildings and actors in period costume who bring the village to life. Throughout the year, Old Bethpage hosts special events including the Long Island Fair, A Haunted Long Island 1880 Halloween and holiday Candlelight Evenings.

Eisenhower Park is Nassau County's premiere park, and it's no wonder why. The 930-acre park boasts activities including three outstanding 18-hole golf courses, an aquatic center, athletic fields, tennis courts, picnic areas, miniature golf, a batting cage, and summertime entertainment at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre. Of course, there's also the 98-acre Christopher Morley Park in Roslyn, Grant Park in Hewlett, and Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington.

Sagamore Hill was the home of Theodore Roosevelt from 1885 until his death. The home was referred to as his "Summer White House". Now open to the public for tours, visitors can enjoy the beautiful 80 acres of landscape any day of the week.
