Old Bethpage Village Restoration

A mid 19th-century colonial village comes to life at the Old Bethpage Village Restoration. Blacksmiths and farm workers, a general store and mill, colonial homes and churches, Civil War reenactments, and more than 50 pre-Civil War buildings, each with historical significance, come together to make the 209-acre village a must-see landmark for any family or American history buff.

Step back in time as actors in period costumes interact with visitors and recreate colonial life. Visitors can buy authentic “birch beer” from the tavern, candy from the general store, and tour authentic-style period homes to get a true flavor of 19th century life.

Not-to-be-missed special events include spooky Halloween festivities celebrating the season colonial-style, the “1863 Thanksgiving” where visitors will be able to enjoy the sights and smells of an authentic 19th century Thanksgiving, and glimmering holiday Candlelight Evenings, where the village is awash in the warm flickering glow of candles. Aaaah…. Life before cell phones.
